Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, English Massachusetts Institute of Technology) is one of the leading institutions dedicated to teaching and research in the U.S., especially in science, engineering and economics.

The Institute is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and has many Nobel laureates among its faculty and alumni. MIT is considered one of the best science and engineering universities in the world.


The Massachusetts Institute of Technology was founded in 1861 by geologist William Barton Rogers, who wanted to create a new kind of independent educational institution dedicated to the growing industrialization of the United States of America.
